Two new developments were proposed at Collingwood Council on Monday.
Dennis Wood of Woodbull LLP, solicitor for Mike Tucci of Forecast Developments, spoke to council about his client's properties on Harbour St., at Hwy. 26 and 151-155 and 157-159 First St.
A financial institution was originally proposed for the Harbour St., property, but the developer has since pulled the plan off the table.
Wood said his client has an agreement in principle with Eastons Group, a hotel company that operates the Marriot Residence Inn and Hilton Garden Inn brands of hotels.
Wood said his client has not formally forwarded an application to the town, but feels a hotel would fit with council's vision of the area and an attempt to be a "good corporate citizen."
For the First St., property, Tucci is proposing an 11,000-square-foot Rexall Pharmacy, along with a 5,000-square-foot doctor's office above. The plan would also include additional retail development.
One of the sticking points is that the Collingwood BIA feels stand-alone pharmacies should be confined to the downtown core.
Wood asked that when council considers the approval of Official Plan Amendment 12, which deals with commercial properties, it allow a pharmacy on the First St. site.
