Small urban conference to be held in Collingwood

Collingwood will is hosting the 2008 Ontario Small Urban Municipalities conference and trade show next week.

The event runs from Wed., Apr. 30 to Fri., May.2 and will see representatives from across Ontario visit the area.

The theme of the conference is The Changing Ontario Small Urban Municipality - Building a Sustainable Community.

Conference sessions will be related to the "four pillars of sustainability," which are listed by organizers as environmental, economic, social, and cultural.

The event will feature two keynote speakers, including Larry Campbell. Campbell is a former mayor of Vancouver as well as a coroner. CBC television's Da Vinci's Inquest and Da Vinci's City Hall were based on his life.

The other speaker is local playwright Dan Needles.
