Counc. Norman Sandberg could soon be sitting on the executive of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO).
Current succession planning has Sandberg taking over as chair of Ontario Small Urban Municipalities (OSUM).
As chair of OSUM, Sandberg would be given a seat on the executive of AMO, an organization that lobbies the provincial and federal governments on municipal issues including funding.
Having a local member on the AMO executive, Sandberg said, gives the town a seat at the table in meetings with government cabinet ministers and officials.
"The Town of Collingwood has a direct voice and influence on forming the policy recommendations that AMO sends," he said.
Sandberg has served as a member on the AMO board for four years.
