Former Collingwood Blues player Scott Nichol (1994-96) and current player Mitch Scott will be hitting the ice at the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena this Saturday to raise money for the CIBC Run for the Cure. The past vs. present game is being organized by Jen Nichol

Even though it will be the Blues on the ice, everyone at the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena this weekend will be thinking pink.

The Collingwood Blues alumni will face off against the current Collingwood Blues this Saturday in a game that will raise money for the CIBC Run for the Cure, which takes place on Sun., Oct. 5, at Harbourview Park.

Puck drop is at 7 p.m.

The event is being organized by Jen Nichol, run co-director.

"We were looking for an event earlier in the year to kick off our teams promotions for the fall run. My husband used to play for the Collingwood Blues and I know how much our community loves hockey," she said.

"Putting on a hockey event to raise money to help find a cure for breast cancer seemed like a good fit. Last year, the run committee had a fantastic reception at a September Collingwood Blues game so we took it one step further to bring Blues alumni into town."

The team of former Blues includes Scott Nichol, Rene Dorval, Todd Miller, Trevor Downey, Greg Patton, Zeke VerBeek, David Deeves, Ryan and Warren Sly, Lyle Rolling, Randy Dagenais, Dustin Dagenais, Gille Boudreau, Alain Laplante, Cameron Gates, Duane Ruston, Greg McCauley, Brian Perry, Reg Sheffield, Dan Sundberg and Jon Forest. The team will be coached by Tim Dickey, with Tom Colley serving as an assistant coach.

Randy Dagenais, who played for the Blues from 1996-1999, will be flying in from England for the game.

"My time in Collingwood playing for the Blues remains one of my most memorable life experiences," he said. "So when Jen contacted me and asked if I would come back to be part of this game, I gave her an immediate yes, even though I would have to fly from England to make it here. I saw it as a great opportunity to visit with old friends and teammates. It's a way for us to relive the past a little."

The event includes several draws featuring prizes donated by Don Cherry.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids and fans are encouraged to wear pink. For more information e-mail scottnichol@rogers.com
