Zoo Licence Holder Convicted

An Elmvale zoo licence holder was convicted for failing to provide information requested by a conservation officer during an inspection.

Serafino Persi, 70, holder of a zoo licence for Elmvale Jungle Zoo, was fined $1,600.

On July 7, 2005, during an inspection at Elmvale Jungle Zoo, Persi withheld a document relevant to the conservation officer’s inspection under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act.

Justice of the Peace Gerry Solursh heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on March 25.
