Police say a Wasaga Beach man has been charged after making an unnecessary call to 911 last week.

They said he called "in the attempt to get quicker and more information from the police in regards to an unrelated issue".

"This individual did get a quick response from police and when it was determined that no emergency was happening he also got charged," said Const. Mark Kinney of the Huronia West detachment.

The 36-year-old man is charged with public mischief. His first court appearance is scheduled for May 27.
