Midland novices take 1-0 lead in series with Collingwood

After returning from the International Silver Stick in Michigan, the Midland Dion’s Drycleaners novices traveled to Collingwood recently to face the Blackhawks in the first game of the OMHA Novice BB playoffs.

Midland opened the series with a narrow 3-2 win.

Midland opened the scoring in the first period with an unassisted goal by Kameron Shearer.

Collingwood tied the game later in the period and took the lead in the second period.

Midland responded with a goal by Shearer from Jacob Dabrowski. Midland scored the winning goal in the third by Shearer from Dabrowski and Jake Walter to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Midland faced Collingwood in game two of the series on Thursday on Jan. 31 at the North Simcoe Sports and Recreation Centre in Midland.
