Wrestler Anthony Darko shows Collingwood Minor Hockey President Dale West the ropes in preparation for the upcoming Rock Solid Wrestling event on Nov.21, which is raising money for Collingwood Minor Hockey.

A grudge match will headline the next Rock Solid Wrestling card in Collingwood.

The local professional wrestling outfit returns to Collingwood Collegiate Institute on Friday, Nov. 21, for an event dubbed Showdown. The event will serve as a fundraiser for Collingwood Minor Hockey. Doors open at 7 p.m., with bell time set for 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for the event are on sale at Play-it Again Sports in Collingwood, Vibe Music and Clothing and Georgian Design Centre.

Collingwood Minor Hockey president Dale West is a longtime wrestling fan and says the Rock Solid Wrestling product is family-friendly.

"You can bring mom, dad, the kids, grandpa and grandma to the show and there is something for everyone," he said. "We are proud to be associated with it."

The card is headlined by a match between longtime rivals "Fighting Irish," Jake O'Reilly of Barrie and Tornado who is billed from New Gimmicks, New Mexico.

O'Reilly has been wrestling in Collingwood for more than four years and is a former Georgian Bay Heavyweight Champion. The six-foot, 218-pound O'Reilly has wrestled his rival in communities across Ontario.

"Collingwood has always been good to me," said O'Reilly, who grew up idolizing wrestling great the Dynamite Kid. "The fans have always treated me well."

Tornado, who has been in the mat game for the last 10 years, isn't shy about voicing his disdain for Collingwood and his opponent.

"I hate Collingwood," he said. "I was there on vacation in July and people wouldn't leave me alone. The town is a cesspool. The only reason I am showing up is because I want to beat O'Reilly up again. He should get the close-pin award for the worst matches I've ever seen."

O'Reilly says his strategy going into the bout is pretty simple.

"I'm going to punch him in the face until he falls to the mat and then I am going to break his leg," he said.

The card features five more matches including local favourite Crazzy Steve facing 260-pound Asylum, who is making his Collingwood debut. Anthony Darko, who is billed from Philadelphia, will face RJ City from Queen's, New York.

Also appearing on the card will be the Suicide Kidz - Xtremo and Cody 45, the Twin Dragons -Dragon Lee and Elton Chong, Otis Idol will face Andrew Davis and Rico Montana from Mexico City will face "Bam Bam" Bruno Davis.
