Abigail McEwen, the 10-year-old girl who was injured in an accident on Poplar Sidreroad last week, is still in hospital but is improving.
Her mother Angela McEwen has opened a group on Facebook to update friends and family on the condition of the youngster.
In her latest post, dated Aug.6, she said Abigail is no longer hooked up to any machines and is not under constant observation.
"She has been up and around quite a bit in the wheelchair as she really, really wants to go home," Angela wrote.
"Now we are beginning her physio and therapy as she has to resume the strength and movement in her right side. She is feeding herself and thinking of all the things her brain and body forgot to do - so we can work on it over the next period of time."
According to a press release from Mark Kinney of Huronia West OPP, a pickup truck towing a trailer and a cyclist collided near the intersection of Poplar Sideroad and Saunders Street last Wednesday at 1 p.m.
Abigail was transported to Collingwood General and Marine Hospital with head injuries and was airlifted to the Hospital for Sick Children.
According to the Facebook post, Angela said the youngster had brain injury but suffered no brain damage and had 95-per-cent mobility in her body.
"She really is a miracle child," she said "She is very feisty and determined to walk out of this hospital very, very soon."
The collision is still under investigation.
