For Lance Dobinson, it's always good to come home.
The Nottawa resident was once again a fixture the Collingwood Elvis Festival this year and was one of more than 120 Elvis tribute artists who participated in the event over the weekend.
Dobinson, 21, has been an Elvis tribute artist for 10 years and was the 2006 non-professional champion in Collingwood.
Things didn't work out as he expected this weekend.
Dobinson performed on Friday evening at the Old Town Terrace, but later came down with a bout of strep throat, which prevented him from singing.
"I'm disappointed," he said. "It happens to the best of us."
Dobinson performs his act across North America and has participated in other festivals, but feels the Collingwood festival is head and shoulders above any other.
"I'm honoured that it's here," he said. "I'm very proud to be a part of it."
Dobinson said the thing that drew him to Elvis was his music. He said the group of artists that attend the festival are trying to carry on the legacy of the man known as the King of Rock n' Roll.
"It's great that they are getting involved in Elvis and in music," he said.
