A 27-year-old Collingwood woman pleaded guilty this week to shoplifting meat from the Loblaws Great Food Store, receiving a fine with time to pay.

Kathy-Jo Spicher, who hopes to get her chef's certificate, was seen by store staff last Apr. 2, as she allegedly concealed two wrapped steaks in her clothing. "What was the value of the meat?" asked Mr. Justice Roland Harris.

"$23.44," replied the Crown.

Spicher has accordingly fined $234.40, with six months to pay.
