Drew croons the Maroon 5 tune, Sunday Morning, during Monday night's performance on Canadian Idol. The Collingwood singer made the Top 7 on the CTV reality show.

The Crown Prince of Collingwood made another ascent to the Canadian Idol throne this week.

On Monday's show, Wright sang the Maroon 5 song Sunday Morning, during the Idol unplugged session. This week, the competitors got some coaching from former Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale, who is married to Gwen Stefani.

After he was finished his performance, host Ben Mulroney dubbed him the "Crown Prince of Collingwood."

Wright's performance was received well by the crowd, but not all of the judges - specifically Zack Werner and Jake Gold.

"I think it might be the best you've sung before," said Werner. "I'm sitting here proud to be a disco ball, I don't know what the heck you are."

Gold not only criticized Wright's song choice, but also his attire.

"I just feel it was kind of safe, it doesn't really say much about you, it was kind of derivative. You sang it really well. I don't normally talk about this kind of stuff, but I got to tell you Drew, I really think the way you're dressed tonight, is just not working.  I just find it kind of ordinary," he said.

Judge Sass Jordan once again supported the Collingwood singer.

"I know exactly what you are. You are a really great singer, you look amazing on television and I think you are the bomb," she said.

On Tuesday, Wright along with Earl Stevenson, were the first two to move on to the top seven, while Mookie Morris, Mark Day and Sebastian Pigott, were the bottom three performers.

Pigott, who has been in the bottom three of the voting for the last three weeks, was eliminated this week.

Wright continues to receive strong support from Collingwood residents. During the Elvis Festival weekend, Wright appeared in a video on the big screen doing his best Elvis impression.

His parents Ted and Anne-Marie Wright, were manning a tent along with volunteers, encouraging visitors to vote for Wright.

Ted said people from across Ontario told them that they are voting for his son. Wright isn't surprised with the support.

"Collingwood has always been a great community in that way," he said. "Once things started to roll, it started to snowball."

Ted and Anne-Marie visited Drew at the Idol mansion in Toronto over the weekend.

The competitors will be singing songs from the United Kingdom, with legendary crooner Tom Jones making an appearance.
