Drew Wright is one step closer to being the Canadian Idol.
The Collingwood resident advanced to the top 10 of the CTV reality show on Wednesday after performing The Reason by Hoobastank on Tuesday.
Judge Sass Jordan said Wright's voice is one of her favourites in the competition while judge Zack Werner rated Wright's voice an eight and his "rock star," persona a two.
Overall, Wright said he was pleased with his performance.
"I did the best I could with the voice I had that night," he said.
Wright was standing alongside his friend Gary Morissette when host Ben Mulroney announced who was moving on.
"You just hope for the best," he said. "I really have a lot of respect for him (Morrissette). I'm happy to be through."
His performance on Canadian Idol came on the heels of a concert in Collingwood, where more than 3,000 people attended.
Wright said he was told that the concert - which was organized in three days - made Idol history, as nobody has organized anything that successful in that amount of time.
"It's indescribable," he said,
Wright will now move into a mansion for the remainder of his tenure on the show. The final 10 participants will hit the stage on Monday, playing the music of British rocker David Bowie.
Wright feels this works to his advantage.
"I've been a huge David Bowie fan for a long time," he said.
Wright also hammed it up for the camera with host Ben Mulroney, who enjoyed a 'Vote for Drew,' cookie, which were made by Collingwood bakery Paula's Pantry.
"Thanks Paula," Wright said while finishing off the cookie.
