After coming up short for the rest of the game, the Raiders gave up five goals to the Alliston squad ending the game 5-2 and giving the Hornets a 2-1 lead in the series.
Napanee's Peter Sergeant got both of the Raiders' markers in the early going of the first period ending a short tenure on the ice for Alliston netminder Troy Dowswell in his first start since the Erin series in league playoffs.
Brandon Elliot scored on a powerplay 14 and a half minutes into the first to put Alliston on the scoreboard.
Zenon Byblow tied it up for the Hornets at the midway mark in the second, followed up just over three minutes later when he found himself alone and charged the net catching the Raiders goalie with a short deke to the right side.
With two games in the series behind them, the race to get that game advantage provided a lot of incentive to make the goalies work hard for all three periods.
Alliston's Jon Poretta and Napanee's Zak Vandenburg both had a serious work-out in net in a game that saw most of the action in all three periods going in overdrive.
Kurtis Brossard gave the Hornets a two-goal lead when he scored at 2:02 going into the third period.
With just over 11 minutes to go in the game Kyle McDowell scored to put Alliston ahead by three and eliminate any real chance of the Raiders making a comeback.
The Hornets racked up 16 penalty minutes in minors. The Raiders came up about the same other than a ten minute misconduct given to Andrew Halliday in the last minute of play.
Since the Hornets had home-ice advantage in the seven-game series, two games were played back-to-back in Alliston. The series will now continue with games alternating between arenas.
Game four will take place in Napanee on Thurs., April 9.
The series returns to Alliston this Sun., April 13 for game five with the puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m. at the New Tec Rec Complex.
