MacLean Engineering laid off 35 employees from its Collingwood plant on Tuesday.
The company said the layoffs are a result of a decline in demand for products in its mining division. The release says a number of mines are not investing in capital expenditures and in some cases are shutting down completely.
As a result, the company has seen a "major" reduction in demand for its mining products.
MacLean Engineering & Marketing Co. Ltd., specializes in the design, manufacturing and marketing of high quality mechanized equipment the underground mining industry as well as the commercial and municipal sectors.
